Barrier of Language

When different people communicate, can misunderstanding happen due to the variety of language? Do one’s own culture, situation and experience affect the interpretation of message?

Misunderstanding can happen anytime and anywhere, it is inevitable. We always experience misunderstanding in our life especially from people who have different culture, language, and circumstances from us. In the world of verisimilitude, there are numerous possible reasons why misunderstanding occurs; some of it is communication styles, non-verbal misinterpretation, and most importantly language differences.

Language is a powerful device of communication which has its own diversification of symbols, codes, and conventions that delivers meaning in a unique way but this has changed into a confusing tool in communicating ideas. Our planet is surrounded by different countries which hold languages different from one another. When two people tries to communicate with each other using their own language then the interpretation of each idea is misleading and might result to misunderstanding due to language differences.

A failure in communication is a serious problem that people faces since it may lead to conflicts and misinterpretation. Since language are words that are spoke by many which may cause misunderstanding since it lies in the foundation of language and also due to the fact that when one’s ideas are translated from a different language then there might be changes which might be misleading, but then it may also be the reason to resolve the conflict and be the source of understanding. Language may be complicated often but it has the ability to clear up problems and confusions through simple actions by listening when the sender of the information tries to explain and the receiver should avoid hasty judgements beforehand.

In a nutshell, language is one of the reasons as to why misinterpretation occurs. Individuals with different languages grew up following their own culture and tradition, and different experience and situation they faces, interpreting one’s message may different. With the help of patience into understanding opinion and sides without concluding directly then this may help in avoiding misunderstanding towards each other. All in all misunderstanding can happen when we try to communicate from others which are way different from us but this will change when one is willing to understand.

          Knowledge is Power, said by Francis Bacon, is very famous, and powerful proverb known by most of the people. Knowledge pertains to the information or facts that people have acquired through education or experience. Power, on the other hand, means the capacity that one person could perform. Knowledge could empower individuals to accomplish tasks with a more prominent outcome.

          Knowledge is a primary factor that distinguishes the human race from the animals. Human beings are physically weak and cannot be compared by any creature’s strength but with the understanding, and the proper application of knowledge that the human holds, they manage to blend and overcome the wilderness of nature. Since people are intelligent enough, they used their ability to obtain knowledge and preserve it for the upcoming generations through experience and research. The most advanced civilization, development of culture, advancements in science, and technology spheres were all achieved because of one’s knowledge. In several countries, there are lots of newly invented technologies making their nation powerful in terms of economy and military, thanks to their people’s abundant knowledge. The application of precise understanding leads the human race to a path of progress which provides benefits. Moreover, knowledge itself is strong enough to solve a variety of problems, and mysteries which made us far more competent, and inferior beings on our planet earth.

          Humans can judge and decide, whether it is good or bad, but the important thing is that we could make and put to good use the gift of knowledge so that we could achieve greater things in every domain of our life. Knowledge should guide you to the right path and shouldn’t open the way for one’s destruction. Learning doesn’t only pertain to technologies, advancement, or the stuff we discover in books, but knowledge also forms our character and behavior towards people. We all still have a lot of time ahead of us, which will let us spend more time on learning. Since learning is a continuous process, the knowledge that we acquired will help us separate from the darkness of ignorance. The real power comes from knowledge, and it doesn’t concern to rule people’s lives, rather, it is the power that knows and holds the truth and understands the reality that an individual lives in. For all of this, power from knowledge is important. 

          Therefore, knowledge plays a vital role in our life. It gives people the power to solve every problems that each of one faces. It leads people to a great position to cure and fight any illnesses, to be able to fly the moon, and power to discover the unknown.

     In my 17 years of existence, I’ve met different kinds of people, and some influenced me greatly, and some are not. It is only natural to have someone you look up to and someone that will help you change for good. Moreover, this person has influenced my life tremendously and contributed something to make me who I am today. She is no other than my mother.

     My mom is a great woman, be it as a sister, as a mother or as a wife. She influenced my life in every possible way, like how she taught me the concept of life. I admired her for staying who she is, how she stands up in her beliefs, and for working hard to make our life convenient. Because of her efforts, it made me realize that without their perseverance, the situation that we are in will be very different. I’ve witnessed my parents struggle, and it made me think that life isn’t always generous, hence it will let you taste its bitterness for you to grow and will help you understand how things run. She influences me to work hard to obtain greater things, and I won’t grow as a better individual I am today without her.

     Also, because of the values that my mom shows and taught us, it will help me grow as a better person with morals to bring and knowledge to share. My decision-making skills have improved bit by bit, and the more I look up to her, the more things I learn. When I commit mistakes, she sometimes scolds me, but after that, she lets me know which part I’ve made a mistake. I always share my problems, sentiments, and concerns with her since she encourages me to speak up. She sometimes gives a piece of advice to ease things up and helps me throughout my hard times.

     In a nutshell, my mom is the most influential person in my life since she thought me well. I admired her for being who she is, and I acknowledge every hard work she faced. I love how my mom handles me since most of the time, I overreact and overthink things. She always taught me to think outside the box. She is one of the people whom I treasured the most, she may not know this in time, but soon she will.
